On Wednesday 17th January, members of Church Committees gathered at St David’s, Llanddewi Rhydderch to celebrate the first anniversary of our Ministry Area commissioning. Bishop Cherry spent the day across the MA.
The day began at St Teilo’s Primary School, meeting with the School Council as well as spending time with Year 6 pupils who were keen to quiz her on life as a Bishop!
This was followed by a meeting with local farmer, broadcaster and author, Kate Bevan who campaigns on behalf of the farming community with a focus on environmental issues in Monmouthshire.
A lunch was then had by the Ministry Team at St Teilo’s, Llantilio Pertholey.
The afternoon was spent with The Revd. Jean Prosser and Pat Griffiths at St. Teilo’s Church, Llanarth. Leaders of Calon Llanarth (The Village Alive Trust), they discussed the group’s plans to turn the unused church building into a community hub.
Bishop Cherry then ended her day at St David’s Church, Llanddewi Rhydderch. We enjoyed a wonderful buffet supper followed by a celebration of the Eucharist. The Bishop shared how enjoyable it had been to watch the MA grow and develop with new initiatives that will help spread the Gospel message. Philip Norman led several members of the Pop-Up Choir who sang ‘Of the Glorious Telling’ during the Eucharist. Many thanks to all who organised the food, song, and everything that contributed to a wonderful celebration of our new Ministry Area.
