It was a drizzly evening in Grosmont on Tuesday 15th October but this did not dampen our spirits as we gathered for the licensing service of Revd. Mary Moore. St Nicholas’ Church in Grosmont hosted the evening for us to celebrate Mary’s new role as House for Duty Vicar of Grosmont Pastoral District.
Many of us from across the Ministry Area attended, as well as members of the Deaf Community who Mary has ministered to over the years. We were fortunate to have Anna Smith with us to offer BSL interpretation for those coming to support Mary.
The Ministry Area Pop-up Choir led by Philip Norman performed their anthem of “Come, Holy Ghost”. Their beautiful singing, along with St Nicholas’ impressive acoustics, created a very moving atmosphere.
Members of the Ministry Area clergy team were present alongside Bishop Cherry and Archdeacon Ian who conducted the service.
Refreshments followed the service, accompanied by the Kitchen Singers – a choir from Grosmont. A lovely evening of fellowship and celebration!
