Sunday 12th January marked the completion of our clergy team with Revd. David Williams’ licensing service. The afternoon was held at St David’s Church, Llanddewi Rhydderch, for which he will be House for Duty Vicar along with St Cadoc’s, the Bryn and St Bridget’s, Llansantffraed. We were joined by Bishop Cherry and Archdeacon Ian as well as the NMMA Choir led by Philip Norman.
The choir led the Introit ‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow’, as well as the anthem ‘The King of Love my Shepherd is’. A spread was enjoyed in the village hall afterwards and many others from the village joined. We hope Revd. David and his wife Jo settle in well.
Born in Andover, Hampshire, David attended Church each week from a young age, which is where his faith was nurtured, thanks to his parents who were both Christian. From his early days as a chorister, he invited Jesus into his life and led the Christian Union at secondary school. He read theology at London University and went on to study for the priesthood at Ripon college, Oxford. After being ordained in 1984, he has served in town and country Churches in Winchester Diocese and Oxford Diocese and has had particular involvement in the training of Curates and Lay Ministers, discipleship and mission, the discernment of vocations, overseas links, and pilgrimage. As to hobbies, he has a great love of music, rugby and hill walking. He’s married to Jo, has three children Hannah, Abby and Huw and five grandchildren and a young labrador named Lily (Lilwen).
