The first weekend of August saw the return of the Llanthony Valley an District Show! We joined St Michael’s who were fundraising for St David’s, Llanthony with an impressive tombola. The Ministry Area also had a pitch ready to welcome visitors from far and wide. We were joined by our MA Rector’s Warden Jess Graham and Emily Bailey our Schools Engagement Pioneer.
We set up a Kid’s Corner which offered lots of children’s activities and Emily was on hand to chat to the parents about our new growing community. It was also a chance for people to offer their suggestions of how we can best serve their needs. We gave out plenty of brochures, leaflets, stickers and goody bags to the children.
It was a wonderful opportunity for people to learn more about our buildings, services and ministry in an informal way, many of whom might find attending church daunting. We were also happy to be a place of calm and shade amongst the busyness of the show – I’m sure some of the parents were grateful for this too!
We held a prayer station for the children (and a few thirsty dogs!) to remind everyone of the quiet presence of God and that their prayers would stay there with the Lord amongst the excitement of the day.
A fun day was had by all, especially Father David’s dog Bruce who won the prize for Waggiest Tail – roll on next year!
