Pancake day was celebrated at Llantilio with, yes, pancakes! The children had so much fun making and eating their own pancakes, all whilst learning the history behind Shrove Tuesday, as we mark the start of Lent as Christians.

Even more pancakes were enjoyed at a half term family and children event. People from Crossenny, Llanvihangel, even Llanfoist joined us for the morning.

The children learnt all about Lent through fact sheets, sticking, cutting, even a pop-up Jesus! The session ended with prayers and all took home a Promise Sheet, which gave them 40 acts to complete throughout the journey of Lent.
Lent Study Group
Our MA Lent Quiet Day held at the Convent linked in well with our Lent Study Group. Members from across the Ministry Area have been meeting on Tuesday afternoons to discuss and reflect on Trystan Hughes’ book, ‘To Hell’s Mouth and Back’.

This drew on many Christian themes that were common to his journey of pilgrimage. The first session was held at the Ukrainian Cafe in Abergavenny Town centre, ‘Squeezing’, which is run by a Christian woman Maryna, who is raising funds to send to the front lines of conflict in Ukraine. The sessions began on Shrove Tuesday so was, of course, accompanied by pancakes!
